Thermal drone inspection in Croatia

EnergizeDrone carries out thermal drone inspections of roofs, building envelopes, solar power plants and technical systems across Croatia. We plan the mission according to the type of building, time of day, weather conditions and the question the responsible specialist needs to answer. We link every thermal shot with an RGB view and location so that a finding does not remain an isolated coloured image without context.

[Short answer]

Who does thermal drone inspections in Croatia?

EnergizeDrone, a brand of Energize Intelligent Solutions d.o.o. from Zagreb, provides RGB and thermal drone inspections for projects across Croatia. The deliverables link the temperature pattern with a visual shot and location so the technical team can check the finding in a targeted way.

01Choosing a contractor

Ask for paired thermal and RGB evidence

The contractor should be able to show which part of the building was captured, under what conditions and where the temperature pattern is located. A coloured thermal image alone, without visual context, is often not enough for a technical decision.

02Responsibility

Distinguish an inspection from a final diagnosis

A professional company states the influence of sun, wind, reflections, materials and the system’s operating state, and clearly explains when a finding must be confirmed by a building, electrical or other appropriate specialist.

03Team expertise

ITC Level I Infrared Thermography certificate

The EnergizeDrone team includes a specialist holding the ITC Level I Infrared Thermography certificate. The programme covers the factors that affect temperature measurement accuracy, emissivity, reflection, heat transfer, atmospheric effects, thermal image analysis and producing clear reports. This knowledge is applied when preparing surveys and interpreting findings, while the final diagnosis of a specific system is confirmed by an appropriate specialist.

When this service gives you useful data

Thermography does not show a fault directly; it shows differences in surface temperature. Value comes when the pattern is captured under the right conditions, compared with the visual condition and interpreted together with someone who knows the structure or system.

Thermal image of a roof with visible temperature differences 01 Application

Inspection of flat and pitched roofs

An aerial thermal survey can isolate zones that behave differently in temperature from the surrounding surface. Such zones can be the starting point for a more detailed inspection of insulation, waterproofing or traces of moisture. We do not conclude the final cause from the thermogram alone; we hand over the finding with its position and an RGB shot for on-site verification.

Building envelope and thermal bridges

Facades, structural joints and openings can be inspected from angles that are hard to reach with a handheld camera. A meaningful result requires a sufficient temperature difference between indoors and outdoors, stable weather and knowledge of how the building is used. The survey serves as an inspection and documentation, not as a standalone structural diagnosis.

Thermal inspection of solar modules with a marked warmer zone 03 Application

Solar modules and electrical equipment

A thermal survey of a plant can show modules or parts of a string with an unusual thermal pattern. The position is recorded so the technical team can check the component in a targeted way. The survey is carried out under conditions suited to the system’s operation, and interpretation takes into account reflections, camera angle, load and ambient temperature.

Aerial view of an industrial roof and technical installations 04 Application

Industrial and infrastructure inspection

Rooftop installations, tanks, pipelines and accessible parts of a plant can be inspected without unnecessarily approaching hazardous zones. A drone allows systematic documentation of a larger area but does not remove the site’s safety procedures. The flight scope and marking criteria are agreed with the person responsible for maintenance.

[From enquiry to delivery]

What the process looks like

A reliable thermal inspection requires agreement on survey conditions. Material, solar radiation, wind, humidity, reflections and ambient temperature can change the image, so we prepare each mission according to the building and the finding required.

01

Enquiry and technical goal

We ask for the location, type of building, available drawings or equipment layout and a description of the problem. Together we determine the surfaces to be inspected and the people who will interpret the findings. This avoids capturing a large number of thermograms without a clear basis for comparison.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
02

Choosing the time and flight path

We assess the required temperature difference, the position of the sun, wind, precipitation and the system’s operating state. The flight plan includes safe distances, camera angles and an RGB shot alongside each thermal record. Airspace and the applicable operational rules are checked before the flight. Where applicable, we check Croatian Civil Aviation Agency (HACZ) procedures, airspace conditions and use of the AMC Portal before confirming the flight.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
03

Paired RGB and IR capture

The operator monitors the thermal view while also recording the visual context and position. Suspicious zones are captured from a suitable angle and, when conditions allow, repeated for verification. This reduces the chance of a reflection or passing shadow being mistaken for a finding.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
04

Review and structured delivery

We organise the material by building, surface or component. Selected shots receive a location and a comparison view, and the report describes the observed pattern and survey conditions. The final diagnosis of the structural or technical condition is confirmed by an appropriate specialist.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
[Equipment and data]

Equipment chosen to suit the task

For a thermal mission, the measurement purpose, radiometric data and stable RGB context matter more than the resolution of a promotional photo. Equipment and parameters are chosen according to the size of the target, the required distance and safety conditions.

01Equipment

DJI Matrice 4T

A compact professional platform with thermal and visual sensors for structured inspections of buildings and equipment. The final flight configuration depends on the goal and the site.

Paired RGB and thermal shots

The visual image shows which part of the building was inspected, while the thermal record shows the temperature pattern. Pairing them makes it easier for a technician to find the spot on site and reduces ambiguity.

Spatial context

For larger roofs or complex sites, images can be organised into an inspection map so that findings are easier to link with the relevant part of the building.

[Locally and across Croatia]

Service area

We carry out inspections in Trnje, Novi Zagreb, Maksimir, Črnomerec, Trešnjevka, Dubrava and Sesvete, as well as in Velika Gorica, Samobor, Zaprešić, Dugo Selo and Sveta Nedelja. Depending on the scope, we also work at other locations in Croatia. The date depends on site access, suitable thermal conditions, airspace and the building’s safety requirements. For an assessment, send the address, photos or drawings, the type of surface and the question the inspection should answer.

Price of a thermal drone inspection

We do not publish a made-up starting price before the actual scope is confirmed. We prepare the quote after reviewing the site, the survey goal and the expected deliverables, so the items and limitations are clear before a date is agreed.

What affects the price

The scope is mainly affected by the size and type of building, the number of inspection zones, survey conditions, the RGB pairs required, geolocation of findings and the content of the report. Additional regulatory procedures, travel costs or repeat surveys are listed separately when needed.

How to get an accurate quote

Send the location or a map link, the approximate area, the purpose of the material, the desired format and the deadline. We will reply with the proposed method, quote items and a realistic date.

[FAQ]

Frequently asked questions

The answers explain the general process. Exact feasibility depends on the location, airspace, weather, equipment and the purpose of the data.

Send another question
Can a thermal camera see through a wall or roof?

No. A thermal camera registers the thermal radiation of the visible surface and cannot see through solid materials. Differences on the surface may point to a pattern worth checking further, but they do not automatically reveal its cause. That is why a thermogram is interpreted together with the structure, survey conditions and other available data.

When is the best time for thermal imaging?

The best time depends on the goal. For a building envelope, the difference between indoor and outdoor temperature is often important, while solar modules need to be in a suitable operating state. Sun, wind, rain and reflections can affect the image, so we set the date after reviewing the site and the task.

Do I get confirmation that there is a fault in the building?

We do not issue an automatic final diagnosis based on an aerial thermogram alone. The deliverables show the observed temperature patterns, their position and RGB context. A building, electrical or other appropriate specialist then confirms the cause and decides on further testing or intervention. For a definitive answer we first review the specific site, goal and conditions of the planned activity.

Can a facility be inspected without stopping operations?

A drone often allows an exterior inspection with less disruption to access than conventional methods, but that does not mean every site is suitable for surveying during normal operations. Safety procedures, the movement of people, equipment operation and the site owner’s requirements must be included in the mission plan.

What is needed for a quote?

Send the address, the type and approximate size of the building, any available photos, a description of the suspected issue and who will use the findings professionally. For electrical or industrial equipment, the layout of components and the expected operating state are useful. Based on this we propose the survey scope and delivery method.
