Drone land surveying in Zagreb

Drone land surveying provides a clear spatial basis for design, construction site monitoring, volume calculations and documenting existing conditions. For sites in Zagreb and Zagreb County we adapt the survey plan to the purpose of the results, the characteristics of the terrain and the format your project team uses. Before going out we define whether you need an orthophoto, a point cloud, a surface model, a 3D view or a combination of deliverables. Send us the location and describe the decision the data needs to support.

[Short answer]

Who does drone surveying for orthophotos and 3D base data?

EnergizeDrone, a brand of Energize Intelligent Solutions d.o.o. from Zagreb, plans drone surveys for orthophotos, point clouds, surface models, 3D views and terrain documentation. The purpose, coordinate system, control method and delivery format are agreed before the flight; when a project requires official survey documentation or certification, an appropriate licensed specialist is involved.

01Deliverables

The data must match the decision

Before the flight, a professional contractor checks whether the project needs an orthophoto, a photogrammetric point cloud, a surface model, LiDAR or a combination. EnergizeDrone adapts the format and scope to the client’s CAD, GIS or documentation workflow.

02Responsibility

A drone is not a substitute for a licensed surveyor

Accuracy, reference data and the legal status of deliverables must not be assumed. EnergizeDrone clearly separates technical surveying and spatial processing from work that, depending on the project’s purpose, must be confirmed by a licensed surveyor.

[Applications]

When this service gives you useful data

A drone is particularly useful when a larger or hard-to-reach area needs to be covered evenly while preserving the spatial relationship between all captured details. We always choose the method according to the real purpose, not just how attractive the 3D view looks.

Base data for planning and design

An orthophoto and spatial model make it easier to understand the entire site before preparing or coordinating a design. The survey can document the terrain, access roads, vegetation, buildings and other visible elements. The required level of control and the final format should be agreed in advance with the surveyor, designer or other responsible specialist who will use the data.

Monitoring construction progress

Repeating the flight over the same area gives an overview of changes through the phases of work. Such documentation helps with internal reporting, comparing as-built conditions and communication between investors, contractors and designers. The timing and method of the survey are agreed so as not to disrupt work on site and so that the visible elements are useful for comparison.

Fill and excavation volumes

A spatial model can serve as a basis for calculating volumes of material, excavation or fill when suitable reference data is available. Before the survey it is important to define the calculation boundaries, the condition of the base surface and the desired output. The result is delivered in the agreed form, with clearly stated assumptions and processing limitations.

Documenting inaccessible terrain

Slopes, corridors, overgrown zones and larger plots are often easier to see from the air than by walking them on the ground. A drone reduces the need to enter risky areas unnecessarily, but it does not remove the need for field verification. We propose LiDAR or photogrammetry according to the vegetation, surface visibility and measurement goal.

[From enquiry to delivery]

What the process looks like

The quality of a spatial result starts before take-off. That is why we first agree on the purpose, coordinate system, reference data and verification method, and only then prepare the flight and processing plan.

01

Enquiry and site review

Send the survey boundary, available documentation and an example of the desired deliverable. We check the terrain, obstacles, access, airspace and the requirements of the data users. If the project’s purpose requires certification by a licensed surveyor, that part must be taken on by an appropriate licensed specialist.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
02

Preparing the flight and control data

We determine the flight altitude and directions, image overlap, the chosen sensor and the positioning method. Operational rules and required procedures are checked for the location. Control or check points are included when the purpose and the agreed methodology require them. Where applicable, we check Croatian Civil Aviation Agency (HACZ) procedures, airspace conditions and use of the AMC Portal before confirming the flight.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
03

Survey and coverage check

On site, safety conditions are checked first and then the planned mission is flown. Before leaving the site we review the coverage and technical quality of the data to reduce the risk of missing sections or unusable photos.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
04

Data processing and delivery

The images are combined into an orthophoto, point cloud, surface model or other agreed product. We carry out a technical check of the coverage and export the data in a format suited to your tool. With the delivery we explain the content, limitations and recommended use.

Indicative timeline: confirmed in the quote after reviewing the site.
[Equipment and data]

Equipment chosen to suit the task

Equipment is not chosen by the size of the drone but by the task. For photogrammetry, a stable flight path, a high-quality camera and reliable positioning matter, while LiDAR can record ground returns through gaps in the vegetation cover when such data is more valuable.

02Equipment

Photogrammetry and LiDAR

Photogrammetry provides rich visual texture and precise spatial relationships between visible surfaces. LiDAR records geometry with laser measurements. The choice depends on the vegetation, the structure of the terrain and the type of final base data.

Service area

We organise the service for the Zagreb districts of Trnje, Novi Zagreb, Maksimir, Črnomerec, Trešnjevka, Dubrava and Sesvete, as well as Velika Gorica, Samobor, Zaprešić, Dugo Selo and Sveta Nedelja. We also work at other locations in Croatia when the project extent is suitable. Availability depends on the location, airspace, weather and the preparation required, so we do not promise a fixed date before reviewing the task. For an initial assessment, coordinates or a map link, the approximate area, the purpose of the data and the desired format are enough.

Price of drone land surveying

We do not publish a made-up starting price before the actual scope is confirmed. We prepare the quote after reviewing the site, the survey goal and the expected deliverables, so the items and limitations are clear before a date is agreed.

What affects the price

The scope is mainly affected by the area and configuration of the terrain, the required resolution, the sensor, control points, coordinate system, format and level of processing. Additional regulatory procedures, travel costs or repeat surveys are listed separately when needed.

How to get an accurate quote

Send the location or a map link, the approximate area, the purpose of the material, the desired format and the deadline. We will reply with the proposed method, quote items and a realistic date.

[FAQ]

Frequently asked questions

The answers explain the general process. Exact feasibility depends on the location, airspace, weather, equipment and the purpose of the data.

Send another question
Is drone surveying a substitute for a licensed land survey?

No. Drone surveying can provide spatial base data, but it does not replace the work or official documentation of a licensed surveyor. Before the project, the purpose of the deliverables must be defined and the responsible specialist involved when the intended use of the results requires it. For a definitive answer we first review the specific site, goal and conditions of the planned activity.

What is the difference between an orthophoto, a point cloud and a 3D model?

An orthophoto is a geometrically corrected top-down view, a point cloud is a set of spatial measurements, and a 3D model connects geometry into a surface that can be viewed from different angles. Not every project needs all three; the best set of deliverables is chosen according to the decision the user has to make.

Do you need a permit to fly over an urban site?

The required procedures depend on the location, airspace, operation category, the drone’s mass and equipment, and how the flight is carried out. Before every mission we check the applicable rules and operational limitations. Having a business reason does not mean you may fly anywhere or at any time.

In what formats can you deliver the data?

The format is agreed before the survey so that it fits your CAD, GIS or visualisation process. Possible deliverables include processed images, an orthophoto, a point cloud, a surface model, a 3D view or a report. The exact format, coordinate system and level of processing are confirmed for each project. For a definitive answer we first review the specific site, goal and conditions of the planned activity.

What should I send for a project assessment?

Send the location, approximate boundary and area, a description of the terrain, the purpose of the data, the expected format and any available documentation. The contact details of the person who will use the result technically are also helpful. Based on this we can propose the sensor, control method and a realistic mission scope without inventing a predefined package.
